Portland OET Test Center
What is OET?
The Occupational English (OET) is an English language test used to determine the English ability of healthcare professionals. Test takers seeking to work in the health care industry in an English-speaking country or other English-speaking environment take the OET in order to demonstrate their English ability.
Candidates take one of 12 different OET tests depending on their target healthcare profession. These healthcare professions include dentistry, dietetics, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, podiatry, radiography, speech pathology, and veterinary science.
How to Register for the OET Test
You can register online at www.occupationalenglishtest.org/.
No walk-in registration is permitted.
Where is the OET Test Center at PELA located?
The OET Test Center at PELA is located inside the Lloyd Center in Northeast Portland, Oregon. It is on the 3rd Floor (the top level) in the northwest corner of the Lloyd Center. The suite number is 2007. If you are using a directory inside the Lloyd Center, look for "Portland English Language Academy (PELA)".
To enter the Lloyd Center between 8:30-10:30AM, you MUST enter through the doors at the Top Level of the Halsey Street Garage (located in the NW corner of the Lloyd Center at 9th & Halsey).

What kind of ID can you use to register for the OET?
Per OET Test Regulations, when booking the OET you need to book using one of the following forms of identification:
- Valid Passport; or
- Valid government-issued ID (excluding drivers license)
On test day, you MUST present the same ID that you used to register for the test.
NOTE: A driver's license is NOT a valid ID for OET registration.
Photocopies, electronic images (e.g., pictures of your ID on your phone), or other forms of ID will NOT be accepted under any circumstances.
What can you bring on OET Test Day?
You may ONLY bring the following materials with you to the test room:
- the ID used during check-in to the OET Test (see above for acceptable ID)
- a bottle of water in a transparent bottle (no label)
- pens or pencils (Number #2, NOT mechanical)
- pencil sharpener
- a small bottle of sanitizer in a transparent bottle
- reading glasses (no case).
- food snack (MUST get approval from OET prior to test day).
- medication (MUST get approval from OET prior to test day).
All other personal items will be held in a secure room until test takers are finished with the test.
NOTE: If you wish to bring food or medication into the test room, you MUST get approval from OET prior to test day.
