Mission Statement

The Portland English Language Academy (PELA) provides high-quality English language instruction tailored to the diverse language needs of students from multiple cultural backgrounds. We provide opportunities for students to explore, discover, and learn English in all its uses, building the skills it takes to communicate effectively. We teach living English as it is actually used in a changing world.

Our mission is to create great English communicators through 100% dedication to our students.

PELA is accredited by the Commission on English Language Accreditation (CEA).

PELA is a member of EnglishUSA (AAIEP).

PELA teachers and staff participate in NAFSA: Association of International Educators, Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and ORTESOL.
