Portland IELTS Test Center
The IELTS Test Center at PELA is a convenient and comfortable testing center in Portland, Oregon. Our goal is make your testing experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.

What is IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) assesses the English language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as the language of communication.
Why take the IELTS?
IELTS tests all four language skills – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The IELTS Speaking test is a face-to-face interview with a certified Examiner. It is interactive and as close to a real-life situation as a test can get.
How do you register for the IELTS?
Please go to the PELA Test Center - IELTS Registration Page to create an account and select a test date at our location. You will be able to make a payment, choose a Speaking Test slot, and preview your results and book future tests on this site.

There is a $7.55 Booking Fee in addition to the above Test Fees.
IMPORTANT!
You must have an accepted identification card (VALID Passport, Passport Card, US Permanent Resident Card, or US Employment Authorization Card) in order to register for the IELTS Test. Make sure you have a photocopy or a photo of the identification document as you will need to upload this as part of the booking process. You will also need to bring the SAME document with you to the test.
A drivers License or state ID are not valid identification for registering for the IELTS test.
How can you confirm your IELTS test registration?
You will receive a Test Registration Confirmation e-mail after you registration is complete. This confirmation email will be sent to the e-mail address you provided on the IELTS Registration form. Please check your e-mail (including junk/spam folders) regularly.
This confirmation e-mail will include information about your test day registration time, test location, and type of test you are registered for.
It is responsibility of the test taker to notify the test center if you have not received the confirmation email at least by 7 days before the test.
Please pay specific attention to a Test Day Reminder email you will receive in the week before your test date. It will contain important information about the location and timing of your exam.
What can you bring on IELTS Test Day?
On test day, you MUST present the same picture ID that you used to register for the test.
Photocopies, electronic images (e.g., pictures of your ID on your phone), or other forms of ID will NOT be accepted under any circumstances.
You may ONLY bring the following materials with you to the test room:
- the ID your used to register for the IELTS
- a bottle of water in a transparent bottle (no label)
- pencil (Number #2, NOT mechanical)
- pencil sharpener
- synthetic gloves
- a small bottle of sanitizer in a transparent bottle
- reading glasses (no case).
All other personal items will be held in a secure room until test takers are finished with the test.
Where is the IELTS Test Center at PELA located?
The IELTS Test Center at PELA is located inside the Lloyd Center in Northeast Portland, Oregon. It is on the 3rd Floor (the top level) in the northwest corner of the Lloyd Center. The suite number is 2007. If you are using a directory inside the Lloyd Center, look for "Portland English Language Academy (PELA)".
To enter the Lloyd Center between 8:30-10:30AM, you MUST enter through the doors at the Top Level of the Halsey Street Garage (located in the NW corner of the Lloyd Center at 9th & Halsey).

A wide variety of public transportation is near PELA. You may plan your trip at http://trimet.org/. There is ample free parking available at Lloyd Center.
You should be prepared to spend the entire day at the IELTS Test Center because there is a Speaking interview scheduled separately from the other test modules. Speaking interview appointments are scheduled when you register for the test that day. Although we try to abide by the scheduled Speaking test times, we may change those times to adapt to test day conditions.

Do not be late to your IELTS test!
If you are not in the registration line before the doors close will not be allowed to take the test and will not receive a refund or be allowed to transfer to a future test date.
How can you cancel your IELTS test or request a test date transfer?
- Requests to transfer/postpone or cancel your IELTS test must be submitted in writing to the center where you planned to test (email or letter);
- Postponement or cancellation requests made via telephone will NOT be accepted.
- These policies below are also found in the IELTS Terms and Conditions you review at registration.
Transfers
- IELTS on Computer: Transfer requests received more than 3 weeks prior to the test date will be accepted with transfer fee payment of $71.25.
- IELTS on Computer: Transfer requests received less than 3 weeks prior to the test date due to a medical condition or other Special Consideration will be rescheduled with transfer fee payment of $71.25 (Proof of circumstance must be provided, such as a letter from a physician)
- IELTS on Computer: A second transfer request due to a medical condition or other Special Consideration will result in cancellation of your registration and a refund of 50% of the cost of the test will be refunded if the test center is notified prior to the test date.
Cancellations
- IELTS on Computer: Cancellation requests received more than 3 weeks prior to the test date will receive a refund less an administrative fee of $71.25.
- IELTS on Computer: Cancellation requests received less than 3 weeks ahead of the test date will NOT receive a refund.

What happens when you fail to attend your test?
- You will NOT receive a refund if you fail to provide proof for Special Consideration within 2 days after the test date for IELTS on Computer.

When will you get your IELTS Test Results?
- Computer-delivered IELTS results will be available online within 3 to 5 days after your test date.
Test results are not released over the phone or email.
You may view your results online in your IELTS USA Online Registration System Test Taker account at https://ieltsregistration.registration-ieltsusa.org/login. We will send you an email with a link when you can view your test results online.
IELTS test results are valid for two (2) years.
How do you request an additional Test Report (TRF) be sent somewhere?
If your IELTS test date was prior to April 1, 2024, you will have been issued a paper copy of your TRF but access to additional TRFs will need to be made through the IELTS portal. Log into your account and download your TRF. The cost for an additional TRF is $10.
Test Takers whose test date is April 1, 2024 or later, will not be issued paper-copies and can download a copy through the IELTS portal.
If your IELTS test date was prior to November 1, 2023, and you want us to send your IELTS Test Result Form (TRF) to a school, company, or an organization
Send an email to ielts@portlandenglish.edu with the following information:
- Your name as it appears on your ID that you used to register for the IELTS.
- The test date for the results you want sent.
- The complete and correct mailing address (including the name of the department and/or office or suite number) to which you would like the TRF sent. The mailing address is required regardless of whether the TRF will be electronically delivered or by post.
How do you request an additional TRF be sent somewhere?
You can request your TRF be sent to additional organizations (including schools and companies) through the IELTS portal.
How do you request your test be remarked (rescored)?
You can request a re-mark (EOR, Enquiry on Results) within 6 weeks of your test date through the Test Taker Portal.
You may choose to have one module, a selection of modules, or all four modules re-examined.
Requesting a re-mark
If you are not happy with your result, you can request a review of your score(s) through a service called an Enquiry on Results.
The Enquiry on Results (EOR) Fee: $125
- The EOR fee is the same regardless of how many modules are rescored.
- If the any band score improves, your EOR fee will be refunded.
During the review process:
- test papers are re-marked by senior Examiners/Markers
- your test center is then notified of the re-mark result and if the mark has changed, they issue a new Test Report Form.
You will need to pay an Enquiry on Results fee, which is fully refunded if your band score changes.
Your result can become available on the same day as your application and up to 21 days after your application. The time it takes depends on several factors, including the number of sections you’ve asked us to re-mark. If you have not received a response after 21 days, please contact us.
How can you submit Feedback or a Complaint?
The IELTS Test Center at PELA is always looking for ways to improve our service. If you’d like to provide feedback or have a complaint relating to the delivery of your test, please ask any staff member for a Feedback/Complaint Form or request a form by email at ielts@portlandenglish.edu. All completed forms will be forwarded to IELTS USA.
Complaints relating to the delivery of a test will not be accepted after results have been released.
