#Program Tuition & Length of Study”: Most colleges and universities have 10- to 16-week minimum lengths of study, requiring you to pay tuition all at once or in monthly installments.

@Other Required Fees”: Other Fees may include Health Center Fees, Distance Learning Fees, Student Services Fees, Technology Fees, or Transportation Fees.

*Start Dates”: At PELA, students are welcome to enroll anytime during the 1st, 2nd or 3rd week of term at a pro-rated tuition rate.

(NOTE: Tuition & Fee rates above for the schools above come from listed 2023-2024 prices.)

At PELA, we keep things simple.

Every school charges tuition, and some schools charge an application fee. However many schools also have 'extra fees' that will add to your education cost for attending that school.

For example, many schools require students to buy expensive textbooks every term; at many schools these textbooks can cost as much as $200! In addition, most universities (and some private language schools) require students to pay fees that support various student services, such as afterschool activities or the school's heath center. Some schools may charge you a 'technology fee' if one or more of your classes has an online component.

All of these fees can add up to hundreds of dollars extra you have to pay every term!

At PELA, however, we keep things simple. Because you only have to pay our monthly Tuition and one-time Application Fee, you don't have to worry about all those extra fees that other schools charge. All textbooks and study materials are included in our tuition. Also, students only have to pay for activities they actually join.

So, when looking at schools, don't just look at their tuition! Ask them about extra fees you may or may not need to pay. If you don't ask, you may be surprised by how much extra you have to pay to enroll at those schools!

At PELA, we keep things flexible.

Many schools and universities have strict Term Start and End Dates, where you must start classes on a certain date and continue to study at that school for certain length of time. But at PELA, we understand that some students have a limited time where they can study overseas.

PELA, however, offers something most other schools cannot: flexibility.

While some schools only have 3 or 4 start dates every year, PELA has 12 official Start Dates every year. In addition, we work with students who (due to their tight schedules) need to start later in the term. Maybe you need to return home to start a university program, or maybe you are on vacation for just a few weeks.

To help students who have specific length of study limitations, PELA is here to help!

At PELA, you can even join us for only one week, two weeks, or even three weeks at a pro-rated tuition rate. We offer this because we know some students are only in Portland for a short time (such as summer break). So, there are actually 36 start dates every year at PELA!

At PELA, you can start learning as soon as you apply!

For most schools, their Application Fee only pays for the administrative cost of enrolling you at the school, and doesn't really help you with your English learning. In addition, if for some reason you cannot actually attend classes, that Application Fee is money you have thrown away. Maybe your study plans changed, or you were not able to get a visa to study overseas.

With PELA, however, once you pay your Application Fee you can get immediate English learning benefits!

When you pay PELA's Application Fee, you get access to our Online English Learning Program. So, you can begin to building your English skills while you are still in your home country completing your visa application. These online learning benefits include online self-study material and access to our weekly online Conversation Group
