Become a Host Family

Roller Skating_2010Hosting an adult international student is a wonderful way to learn about a new culture and share your own culture, whether sightseeing, attending festivals and shows, or just spending time together at home.

Homestays offer PELA students the chance to learn both English language and American culture. Homestays are also a great way for students to immediately practice the English they are learning in class.

As a Host Family, you provide

  • A private, furnished bedroom
  • Breakfast and sit-down dinners each day
  • Invitations to participate in family activities and/or sightseeing
  • Opportunities for interaction and English conversation

Host Families are compensated $650 each month, which covers room and board (2 meals/day) and minor incidental costs related to hosting the student.

My HOMESTAY PARENTS treated me as if I was their own daughter. We went camping near Mt. Hood–they even asked me if I wanted to take a friend on the trip with us. My host family is the kindest and the most hospitable couple!
