She joined PELA in 2013.
Why did you become a teacher? "I find origins and grammar of the English language fascinating. I became a teacher so that I can share the language with others."
What experience do you have learning a foreign language or living in a foreign culture? "I spent several months in Morocco in 2010. I wanted to go there so that I could visit people that I knew there and learn Moroccan Arabic."
How has your international experience helped your teaching? "In Morocco I attended a school that was a little like PELA. It was great to meet people from all over the world and practice my new language with them. It has also helped me to understand and relate to the experiences of our PELA students doing English immersion in Portland."
What do you do when you are away from school? "I enjoy cooking and gardening. I also like to attend some of the great festivals and cultural events around Portland."
Why do you like Portland? "Portland is such an easy city to live and get around in, and people are incredibly friendly. I also like the weather."
Why do you recommend our school to students? "I recommend PELA to students because PELA has so many engaging classes, great students, and fun activities that make it easy for students to make friends, learn English, and become confident, fluent English speakers."
